Combat Abilities
Gio is usually seen with his crystalline staff on his back or in hand. He learned at a young age from his native Dalmasca the traditional holy and white magicks utilized by their holy/mystic knights and priests. He combines conjury with these arts as a mage. With slow but powerful casting, Gio prefers to act as a rear guard healer or battlemage. He has also picked up the rapier over the years, as it was the preferred weapon of his late wife.

History
Gio dwelled around Muscadet lands for some time and gained reputation as a solitary undead hunter who always kept back the Dark, or other Dalmascan fiends. Since a young age, he studied both conjury and burial rites, and also saw to the remains of the other lone men in the Wood.However, Gio knew that his skills and passions laid with either the dead or the dying. And in the Jungle, these were lacking. So in his words, he sought out the place with the most suffering and sorrow, and left the Wood to go to Ishgard. Of course, they were remarkably leery of outsiders, and he found himself having to prove his worth to so much as handle a victim of the Dragonsong. Thus, he joined the lines as a medic while applying for citizenship, which ended up being hastened by his relationship with a notoriously frightening Inquisitor, the adopted Shae Vauclain.They wed eventually, and his citizenship was granted. Finally trusted by more of the populace, Gio then worked primarily as a mortician and healer while continuing to seek out and grant peace to the undead, as was the tradition of his people. More time past, and his reputation as a kind hearted man and skilled practitioner grew. The See also noticed that someone of his lifespan would be a boon in practicing his station, and he was eventually elected coroner who dealt with all dead, including the undead.His wife, however, was no viera, and she passed before the Dragonsong was over from her age.This showed him personal sorrow, and he has carried it ever since, even though his life has improved to beyond his dreams.
